The Burlington-Edison Kiwanis Club is dedicated to serving children and strengthening our community through meaningful programs and initiatives. As part of Kiwanis International, we focus on improving the lives of children one community and one child at a time.
Supporting Local Students
Our primary mission centers on empowering the next generation through educational support. Each year, we award scholarships to graduating seniors at Burlington-Edison High School, helping local students pursue their college and career goals. These scholarships recognize academic achievement, community involvement, and potential for future success.
We offer several scholarship categories to meet diverse student needs, including academic scholarships for four-year universities, technical scholarships for vocational training, and transfer scholarships for students beginning their journey at Skagit Valley College. Our Al and Gwen Brown Scholarship provides additional support for exceptional students, while our B-E Key Club Scholarship specifically honors student leaders who have demonstrated service to their school and community.
In 2024, we proudly awarded $18,600 in scholarships to 19 outstanding Burlington-Edison High School students, representing our commitment to investing in local youth and their futures.
Community Fundraising and Engagement
Our scholarship program is made possible through community-supported fundraising events that bring neighbors together while supporting a great cause. Our annual Salmon BBQ, held during Berry Dairy Days each early summer, has become one of Burlington’s most cherished community traditions. Families and friends gather at Maiben Park to enjoy alder-grilled salmon dinners while supporting youth programs, with convenient delivery options available for those who prefer to celebrate from home.
Each spring, we host our annual golf tournament at the Skagit Golf & Country Club, bringing together golfers of all skill levels for our largest fundraiser of the year. This event combines friendly competition with community spirit, featuring prizes, silent auctions, and opportunities for local businesses to show their support through sponsorships.
Building Stronger Communities
Through our fundraising efforts and volunteer activities, we work to strengthen the Burlington-Edison community and create lasting positive change. Every dollar raised and every hour volunteered goes toward programs that benefit local children and families, ensuring that our impact extends far beyond individual scholarships to touch the entire community.
Our club members are neighbors, business owners, parents, and community leaders who share a common commitment to service and making a difference where we live and work. Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive community for current and future generations.
Join us in serving the children of our community. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of local youth and strengthen the Burlington-Edison area for everyone.
